Our Story

RVMW was founded in June 2020, by Dr Kristin Martin in response to the COVID-19 epidemic and the sudden void of addiction recovery services left by other organizations. Kristin Martin, DO, MS, FAAFP, is Board Certified in Family Practice and Addiction Medicine and has worked as an Emergency Medicine physician and Medical Director in Arkansas since 2009. Dr Martin has been recognized for her expertise in Addiction Medicine and was recently appointed to the Federation of State Medical Boards National Workgroup on Opioids and Addiction Treatment to serve with the CDC, SAMHSA, AMA and others to develop national policy recommendations for addiction care.

During our first two years, RVMW provided service to over 1,600 individuals from 52 of the 75 counties in Arkansas. RVMW has over 8,000+ patient contacts in coordination with ten rural hospitals, eight residential treatment centers, four detox centers, and four reentry programs. RVMW supports all roads to recovery and wellness and provides 24 hour call service, in-person, telemedicine and onsite visits to anyone who needs assistance, despite ability to pay. The goal is to save lives, stabilize individuals and families, reduce relapse, decrease recidivism, assist those back into the workforce, educate communities andhealthcare providers, and bridge the gap in care and services in our communities.
