ARMOR Initiative will Combat Opioid Crisis in Rural Arkansas

Little Rock, Arkansas – November 8th, 2023 – River Valley Medical Wellness, a leading provider of integrated healthcare services, is proud to announce the creation of Arkansas Mobile Opioid Recovery (ARMOR), a pioneering non-profit dedicated to confronting the opioid epidemic head-on. ARMOR has been honored with a substantial grant from the Arkansas Attorney General, Tim Griffin, to facilitate a mobile unit that will extend critical opioid abatement services to rural communities throughout Arkansas.

The grant, which underscores the Attorney General's commitment to battling the opioid crisis, will enable ARMOR to deploy a specialized mobile unit designed to deliver top-tier opioid treatment services directly to areas where such resources are scarce or non-existent. This initiative reflects River Valley Medical Wellness's dedication to not only providing exceptional healthcare but also ensuring that such care reaches those most in need.

"Access to comprehensive addiction medicine services should be a right, not a privilege, and should not be limited by one's zip code," said Dr. Kristin Martin, owner of River Valley Medical Wellness. "Thanks to the generous support from Attorney General Tim Griffin, ARMOR is set to bridge the gap between rural Arkansans and the quality healthcare services they deserve."

The mobile unit is a game-changer for rural residents, who have been disproportionately affected by the opioid crisis and often encounter barriers to accessing treatment. With the mobility and flexibility to reach remote areas, ARMOR aims to provide a range of services, including:

  • Opioid addiction assessments

  • On-site medical consultations

  • Individualized treatment planning

  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder

  • Counseling and Peer Recovery Support services

  • Follow-up care and monitoring

ARMOR aligns with River Valley Medical Wellness's holistic approach to healthcare, emphasizing the importance of addressing the full spectrum of patient needs, from diagnosis to long-term wellness. This endeavor will empower individuals and communities to overcome addiction and its associated challenges.

"We believe in healing and hope, and ARMOR is a testament to that belief," added Tucker Martin, Chief Operating Officer at River Valley Medical Wellness. "Together with the Attorney General's office and our community partners, we are taking a significant step towards a future where every Arkansan has the opportunity to live a life free from Opioid Use Disorder."
